We’re going on a trip with our favourite songs to sing, zooming through the road~... sounds familiar? Maybe you’ve heard your little siblings or children sang it. A road trip is one of the perfect ways to spend your holiday with your friends and family. However, picking the destinations and driving for long hours can be a hassle to some. Thus, heading to the right places for a holiday is essential to ensure that everyone will have a good time. Other than that, driving for long hours in the car is actually one of the fun parts of a road trip too. The trick is to play the right music that everyone can sing along to, this way boring and tiring long hours of driving will turn to a fun karaoke session!

If you're in to break away from the KL city life to a nature escape, Pahang is the perfect place to drive to. With about 3 hours drive, Pahang is full of road trip destinations that are close to Mother Nature. To start off, drive to Kuala Tahan Pahang to get to Taman Negara. Known as Malaysia’s prime national park, hiking through the vast green jungles of Taman Negara will surely strip you off all your stress. You can hike up 334M to Bukit Teresek for a beautiful view of the national park, or if you’re super fit like a fiddle you can hike up Gunung Tahan that is 2190m. Bear in mind, Gunung Tahan is Malaysia’s 6th highest peak and hiking there requires camping at the mountain peaks as it will take at least 5-9 days to reach the end depending on the route and peak chosen. Make sure to hike with a guide there to avoid getting lost. Activities at Taman Negara also include a canopy walk that will give you the opportunity to witness a bird view of the jungle canopy. Before heading there, check Taman Negara’s website for the activities they offer and the fees of it.

Situated 150km north of Kuala Lumpur, drive up to Cameron Highland to enjoy its cool breeze and natural wonders! Cameron Highland is one of Malaysia’s favourite destination to visit as its vibrant hills, flower fields, butterfly park, tea plantation and strawberries field will make you fall in love easily with it. Enlighten your mood and eyes by visiting the colourful lavender garden and Rose Centre. These gardens are perfect for flower lovers as you will learn the therapeutic and medicinal benefits of lavenders, and you will also discover more than 100 species of roses. Another colourful stop is the Butterfly Farm, where you can get a closer look at butterflies, watch insects, spiders, reptiles, ducks and also fishes. Once you are done with that, do not skip visiting BOH Tea Plantation as it is popularly visited by travellers. The lush tea leaves at the BOH Tea Plantation are aromatic and in a way therapeutic too, so you must grab the chance to taste the teas offered there. Fun fact; Cameron Highland is the only place in Malaysia that can grow strawberries. With that being said, you must visit some of the strawberry farms often visited there such as Big Red Strawberry, Strawberry farm Kea and Healthy Strawberry Farms. The strawberries there are grown healthy, therefore visitors often pick their own fresh strawberries to bring back home.

If you’re looking for a road trip destination that is close to the sea in Pahang, then Cherating is your stop. Cherating offers you its calming beach and its lovely haven of turtles and fireflies. Just make your way to Kampung Cherating where you can stay at chalets and guesthouses near the beach stretch. Explore their beaches at Pantai Cherating, Pantai Chendor and Pantai Kemaman where you can also play the ATV. When at Cherating you should stop by The Cherating Turtle Sanctuary to visit one of Malaysia’s ancient marine species. If you come in the month of June to October, you might get a chance to witness turtles hatching their eggs. Not to forget, if you have never seen fireflies before, book a firefly tour at the Kampung Cherating to witness the magical creature gleaming in the night. The firefly boat tour will also give you the view of Cherating’s mangroves.

Road trip to Johor Bahru is fun especially if you are travelling with kids. This is because Johor Bahru is known for its theme parks namely Legoland and Sanrio Hello Kitty World. Stepping into the world of Legoland will promise you and your family a whole day of never-ending playtime as they have roller coasters rides, waterpark, live shows and many more! Sanrio Hello Kitty World is also a famous spot to bring your kids to as they plenty of fun activities with Hello Kitty and Friends such as arts and crafts, mini shows, Kitty Teacup ride, Hello Kitty House and Dream Photo Garden.

A road trip to Johor Bahru will not be complete if you don’t visit the JB Old Town as there are a variety of food, street art and heritage buildings. When in Johor Bahru, try their authentic Malaysian breakfast food at Hua Mui Kopitiam and just at the opposite of Hua Mui, visit the oldest bakery in Malaysia which is Hiap Joo Bakery & Biscuit Factory. Then, walk around their street and take lots of pictures as their streets are full of colourful paintings and heritage buildings. If you have the time, visit the Red House as they usually have cultural and art events.

If you’re looking for a place to go during night time, don't miss the chance to go to their Pasar Karat bazaar as there are a lot of cheap good loots up for grabs such as shoes, handbags and items of clothing. You might also score yourself some vintage and authentic items. Bargaining is also accepted by the vendors so if you want the best price, bargain your way!

Plan your road trip to Kuala Terengganu because it has many places that will mesmerize you and make your road trip drives worth it. One place that you surely cannot miss is the coral reefs of Redang Island. Its crystal clear blue water is perfect for diving and snorkelling. This is the chance for you to witness the amazing marine life of the sea. The beach is surely the right spot to have some fun in the sun with friends, family and even lovers.

Kuala Terengganu Islamic Civilization Park is a notable place to discover the modern age in Islamic architecture and artworks. With 22 scale models of historical monuments, its most famous work of architecture is the Crystal Glass Mosque as it is Malaysia's most unique mosque. This place has become one of the top tourist attraction in Kuala Terengganu, and a trip here act as an eye-opener as you will learn more about Islamic Civilization.

Listed in UNESCO’s heritage listing, Kuala Terengganu’s Chinatown is unique as its walls and pavements are covered with artworks of paintings, murals, and creative cultural installations. Being one of the famous spots amongst tourist, it leaves tourists a feel of its culture and tradition. Its small shop houses also offer a variety of cafes, restaurants and stores that you should visit.
